A Patient Centered Approach
Most parents want their kids to be seen as a normal, typical child and not be labeled by their condition. At Cove Speech Language and Feeding Therapy, we understand that there are many underlying reasons for their struggle and we work closely with families to maximize their potential and have a positive outcome.
We focus our effort and energy on making the experience of each patient very meaningful. We want you to get the most out of each and every session! We pair each person with their ideal therapist so that your experience is functional and productive to your needs. We want to help you reach your goals!
Speech and Language
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
There is a well-established relationship between oral language and reading. Reading requires a command of language, beginning at the level of the individual sounds in words all the way to text comprehension.
Feeding therapy helps children learn to accept new foods, increase the amount of food they are eating, and accept new textures of food. In infancy, feeding therapy may include oral motor exercises to facilitate appropriate movement of the jaw, tongue, lips, palate, and cheeks.
We go beyond homework help to teach executive functioning for: * Reading
* Time management
*Strategies to recall information
*How to break down directions and projects into manageable parts
* How to give a presentation with confidence
and so much more!
AAC is an abbreviation for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It is a way to enhance communication for people who have significant speech and language impairments.
