  Business Communication Skills
How we say something can be just important as what we say. When communicating in a professional setting, effective communication skills can determine how others perceive you.  Good business communication skills make you appear capable, confident, and worthy of respect. To help you speak with confidence, we work on topics such as rate of speech, enunciation, decreasing use of fillers, pausing, and voice. We can work to improve the clarity and effectiveness of your writing. Sessions are tailored to meet each individual’s needs. If you are going on job interviews we can help you prepare and improve your interview skills. Having thought-out answers to questions you are likely to encounter is helpful. Being able to answer the interview questions while highlighting your skills and experiences will help you differentiate yourself from other applicants.
Invest in yourself. Working with Cove Speech Therapy will help you communicate professionally and help you prepare for job interviews. Preparation in turn reduces anxiety and improves confidence.

What are 'Soft Skills' ?

Soft skills encompass a wide range abilities that when put all together help people to be successful in communicating and working with people. Communicating your ideas effectively and efficiently involves a lot of smaller abilities, such as:
  • Knowing the right time to interrupt someone
  • Accepting decisions that a group of people have made
  • Making suggestions without offending  anyone
  • Understanding body language and small facial cues
  • Understanding sarcasm or indirect requests
  • Getting to the point
  • Manage deadlines
  • + So much more!!

These skills are different from your ability and level of skill in which you can perform your job, but they may still prevent you from doing your job well, how you are perceived by others, and impede you from advancing further in your career.

There are no jobs that don't involve working with people to some degree.

Don't let your social interaction prohibit you from achieving success in your chosen field!
Learn More About Soft Skills

"Failure to interpret direct and subtle messages and expectations is another blow to employability. Whether bagging groceries or creating computer programs, an employee’s actions, decisions, and attitudes in the workplace carry greater consequences than those encountered in a familiar classroom. Hard skills can be refined or expanded on the job. Soft skills, in comparison, are much harder to teach post-high school and on the job, so employers will often screen out job applicants who lack them" (Foster et. al., 2019)

Foster, Sharon K., et al. “What's So Hard About Soft Skills?” The ASHA Leader, Dec. 2019, leader.pubs.asha.org/doi/10.1044/leader.FTR2.24122019.52.

What Our Clients Are Saying

I’ve had such a wonderful experience with Cove Speech Language And Feeding Therapy. They helped my son go from not wanting to put any solid foods even close to his mouth, to trying all sorts of new foods in just a few months. The therapists worked with him on his sensory issues, on self-feeding, and on learning to chew. They were patient and friendly, and through play, made it a very enjoyable experience for my son. I highly recommend this practice to anyone who needs speech and/or feeding therapy. I will never forget how much they helped my son and I am forever grateful to them." -Sheena R.
